Toniebox review: Our preschool tester fell in love with this screen-free kids’ music player

The Toniebox is a good investment.

Whether you’re watching a movie, doing homework on a computer or video chatting with grandparents across the country, our daily lives are inundated with screens. While technology is essential to our lives, parents continue to search for other ways that their children can be entertained and educated without using screens.

The Toniebox claims to be a screen-free listening experience that encourages kids’ imaginations without the use of overstimulating, flashing screens. With tactile controls and safe use, the music box can be used by children with small hands. It is portable and easy to carry around.

You can determine whether the TonieboxTo see if the promises it makes, we put it to the testing. Here’s what we found.

The Toniebox is available for testing

A Toniebox tester was asked by a parent to test each feature and give feedback. While our tester had no prior experience with children’s music or storytelling speakers, their child was familiar with the Toniebox characters and songs.

How does the Toniebox work?

Toniebox claims it will become your friend at storytime. It’s a screen-free music and storybook player without flashing lights and unsightly buttons. Cuddly and soft, the cube encourages learning as well as cuddly playing.

Use the Toniebox

A simple setup is required for the Toniebox to be able to connect with Wi-Fi and the Mytonies apps. You’ll need to set up a Mytonies account, which is necessary if you want to create a personalized Creative-Tonie. The account was set up in under 10 minutes. A single-battery charge can keep the Toniebox running for seven hours. The charging station is easy to use and easy to remove.

Toniebox controls are simple and intuitive. By pressing the shorter or tall rubber ear, you can adjust or reduce the volume. To skip tracks, you can pat the sides of your music box and tilt it to the left or right. This will rewind and speed forward. To provide an immersive sensory experience, children can tap on the tactile controls.

To choose the stories or songs, you can place one of these magnetic Tonies (hand-painted characters) on top. For example, a Paw Patrol Tonie plays the show’s theme song and an engaging story, while the Cookie Monster Tonie plays songs children are familiar with from Sesame Street.

Either choose from many colors or begin with the starter set when purchasing the Toniebox. Every set includes a variety of Tonies with different content, each ranging from 15-60 minutes. Individual Tonies can be purchased separately. There are many characters that you can choose from when purchasing Tonies. “The Little Mermaid,” “Pocahontas,” “Toy Story,” “The Lion King”There are many more. There’s also a Creative-Tonie that allows you to record your own songs or stories.

Toniebox benefits

Aside from a cool aesthetic, we loved how many Tonies there are to choose from and appreciated each figure’s stories and music options. Toniebox provides a screen-free option for entertainment that helps children to develop their independence. The control settings ensure that parents don’t have to worry about their children listening to inappropriate music.

We quickly loved the Toniebox’s versatility and became its favorite toy. No matter how little our child was doing things, the Toniebox was always with them. It doesn’t need Wi-Fi after the initial setup and has a headphone jack for quiet listening with headphones.

It is clear that Toniebox was made with children in mind. From durability to ease of use, it’s entirely kid-friendly. The Toniebox was able to withstand an accident fall from the outside with no problems.

Toniebox drawbacks

Creative-Tonie does not come with the starter set. This is the main drawback. We recommend choosing a starter set with a Creative-Tonie or purchasing one separately, as it’s an excellent feature. While we think the sound quality is suitable for a children’s speaker, it doesn’t rival a high-end speaker, and we wished the volume went louder.

Many users experienced difficulties connecting the device to their router. While it wasn’t our experience, it’s something to keep in mind. Toniebox offers Tonies only in English or German. This could be made better. Each Tonie is less than an hour in length.

The Toniebox: Should You Get It?

The Toniebox, as a screenless music/storytelling device and easy to use for children on their own, is our overall opinion. This cute kids’ speaker is intuitive, fun and grows with your child as their tastes change and mature. This is our top recommendation based on experience. Toniebox to anyone with children, especially those looking for screen-free entertainment to encourage children’s independence.
