Public access to the initial Minecraft build with Java platform was possible on May 17, 2009. It was refined through feedback from the forum. On June 30, 2010, the beta version of Minecraft was made available. Notch quit his job to devote himself to Minecraft’s beta release. Notch’s updates proved to be a success. New blocks were created and Survival Mode was born.

Notch created Mojang in order to support Minecraft’s growth. Alpha sales money supported Mojang. Notch promised that Minecraft would remain free for all future updates.

Minecraft was officially released on November 18, 2011 to the public, just one year following its beta release. Notch would transfer the creative control of Minecraft to Jens a few short months later. “Jeb”Bergensten was also co-developer of Minecraft and is now the main designer.

There has been a huge rise in Minecraft’s popularity. Microsoft and other giants in video games like Electronic Arts, Blizzard, and Blizzard expressed great interest to acquire Minecraft’s intellectual property. Notch suggested that Mojang’s shares be purchased by a corporate stake. Microsoft agreed to acquire Mojang. This was because of criticism Notch received over the game’s End User License Agreement, and rules for multiplayer online.

Mojang was bought by $2.5billion in November 2014. Notch became a millionaire in a matter of hours. Notch resigned as Mojang’s CEO and Jeb assumed control. It was done in order to ensure the game moved into a new era with Microsoft.

Minecraft’s popularity has risen since 2014 thanks to regular and reliable content updates and additional versions across multiple platforms. A massive marketing campaign includes LEGO partnerships. Minecraft updates history

After 1.0.0, updates were not made. This upgrade was what added all of the core game features like health and basic features.

 

Update 1.1: 51 additional languages were added, three of which are fictional. Also included was spawn eggs and other perks for all the animals. There is now a half chance that oak leaves will drop apple seeds.

 

The next update was at 1.2.1. The items that it added were the bottle o’ enchanting and the fire charge. Additionally, it added mine shafts and desert wells.

The next version of the software was 1.3.1. This update included many new or enhanced features. The new features included adventure mode and trading with villagers. You can also find structures like jungle or desert temples in the game. There were also desert villages and emeralds.

 

Wither was added to the game’s next update, 1.4.2 (The Fearful Upgrade). It also added the anvil, pumpkin pie potatoes, carrots on sticks, carrots and stick items frames, item frames and flower pots. Additionally, it added the witch and bat to its mobs.

 

Redstone Update (also known as Version 1.5) was Minecraft’s next major update. It was an important update. Redstone-related block were made, death messages added, and slimes started to appear at certain times in Minecraft.

It was version 1.6. The Horse Update was next. The game was updated with three new mobs: the horse and mule as well as the donkey. The game also features a lot of pet and horse-related items, such as name tags, horse armor and lead. This update also included the addition of splash text as well as end credits.

The Update That Transformed the World, also known as The Update that Transformed the World, is also called 1.7. Update 1.7 included 16 new colors for stained and pane glass, new types and biomes of trees as well as flowers and other new features. Updates also added salmon, clownfish, and pufferfish. Many people were sad and outraged that Minecraft was no longer in its original owner’s hands, and many worried that Microsoft would ruin the game. But it quickly became clear that the changes to Minecraft were minimal and would not affect the original game’s feel.

 

– In the 1.9 update (The Combat Update) new types of arrows were introduced into the game known as tipped and spectral arrows. Players can be affected by tipped arrows. A person can be injured if they’re struck. The game also included shields. These shields made it easier to move crouchingly and less likely for arrows to cause injury. They also reduced melee damage, as well all damage to arrows. Your shield can be combined with a banner to make it dye. An entirely new kind of potion was added to this game, called “lingering potions”. You can throw it, and it lingers. The game was also enhanced with swords. ‘sweep attack’You can use this to attack multiple enemies. With a slot being added, you can hold items with your left hand. The game’s end was also updated, so you can travel farther into it if your ender pearl is present. Igloos were also added, as well as ender pearls. Also, mobs known as shulkers and skeleton horses were added to this update.

Update 1.10 also called Frostburn Update introduced the auto jump feature. You automatically jump every time you pass a block. There were also a few additional blocks to the game, including magma, bricks or netherwart (which could cause damage), and bone blocks. They can also be found within bone structures. The game also introduced three mobs, including rats and polar bears. These were skeletons which spawned in areas of snow and inflicted slowness via their arrows. The last mob added to the game is the husk. This mob is an alternate to the standard zombie and can only spawn in deserts. It can be blinded by the sun and will eat enemies that it targets. Endermen now have the ability to reach the Nether after this update. The roads in villages were also modified based on the locations of Endermen.

This update was called the Explorer Update. Llamas were also included in this update. These animals are very passive but can be trained to become docile. If attacked, it will throw its spit at the attacker. It also got a woodland mansion which is an artificially created structure. The End City was also included. After you have killed the Ender Dragon, this can be reached.

This update was called the World of Color Update. This update focused more on adding color to the game. There were only two new mobs. They were the illusioner and the parrot. Natural spawner of jungle biomes is the parrot. You can feed seeds to it so that they are tamed. The second mob is called the illusioner. This villager-mob is equipped with an arrow or bow. This update added three blocks to the game. Each block came with sixteen different color options. The three additional blocks to the update were concrete, concrete powder, glaze terracotta and glazed-terracotta.

Next was the Aquatic Update. There were many new mobs, structures and blocks added. New mobs included the dolphin (a passive mb which gives speed boosts when it is near you) and the drowned.

Next update was 1.14 Village Update, and Pillage Update. The update brought many improvements to villages as well as many mobs. The mobs that were added into the game were the wandering trader, lama, fox,  panda, pillager, and ravager. Many utility blocks were available, such as lanterns and scaffolding. The villages have been modified to correspond with their local biome. This game was enhanced with a crossbow.

In the coming years Minecraft will receive many updates. Minecraft has undergone many changes over the last ten years. Mojang and Microsoft, along with other developers, are always improving Minecraft to make it more fun and challenging. Be on the alert for creepy-crawlers!
